Raw Materials

Diatomaceous earth is one of the earliest primitive organisms to appear on Earth. It absorbs free silica from water to form its skeletal structure. After its life ends, it sediments and, after approximately tens of thousands of years of accumulation under certain geological conditions, forms diatomaceous earth deposits. Its texture is light and porous, with an extremely strong water absorption capacity, boasting a porosity that is 5000 to 6000 times greater than that of charcoal.

Product Composition

This product is primarily made from diatomaceous earth, with quartz sand, plant fibers, and inorganic color pigments as auxiliary materials.

Product Functions

The diatomite stone bath mat has the characteristic of rapid water absorption.

Factory Condition

After production, our factory cleans the surface dust with an air gun before packaging. When you first use it, please rinse the surface of the mat with clean water to remove any residual powder, and then dry it in a ventilated and dry place before use. It is normal for fine dust to fall off the surface in the short term and is unrelated to the product’s quality.

Precautions

  • Since the main material is natural, the product’s surface may have slight powder, color spots, blemishes, or small scratches. These are normal conditions of the material and do not affect the product’s normal use and functionality.
  • There may be a slight odor upon initial use, which will gradually dissipate over time. This odor is non-toxic and harmless, being the natural scent of diatomaceous earth.
  • After some time, please place the product in a dry, ventilated area to maintain its good water absorption capacity.
  • The product may undergo slight deformation during use, which is normal. If this occurs, place the protruding part facing up to air dry naturally, and it will return to normal.
  • Due to the fragile nature of the materials, please handle the product gently. Dropping it from a height or subjecting it to strong impacts may cause breakage.
  • Avoid contact with colored liquids, as they may leave stains on the surface that cannot be cleaned.
  • Dust and hair can be rinsed off directly with clean water and then air-dried.
  • Do not soak the product in water for extended periods.
  • In extremely humid environments, mold may grow.
  • When using the product, please place it on a flat surface. If the mat is unstable, you can place a non-slip mat (a mesh soft pad) underneath to reinforce the mat and prevent slipping.
  • Do not use a microwave to dry the product.
  • The product is designed for absorbing moisture in confined spaces and is not suitable for use in wide-open areas.
  • The absorption capacity does not have a defined standard, as it varies with humidity, moisture, and environmental conditions.

Cleaning Instructions

If the product’s surface becomes dirty, there are several methods to clean it:

  1. Use a soft brush or sponge to scrub the surface.
  2. Rinse with clean water; do not soak the product in water or use cleaning agents or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the mat’s integrity and effectiveness. After rinsing, it must be air-dried in a ventilated area for at least two days before further use.
  3. You can use the included sandpaper (320 grit) to gently rub the surface in one direction. This will help remove any dirt, stains, or soap scum that may have accumulated on the mat’s surface. We recommend doing this outdoors, as sanding can generate fine dust that might dirty your indoor space. After sanding, rinse thoroughly with water before continuing to use.
  4. If you find any stubborn stains on the mat, you can use a mixture of water and vinegar to help remove them. Simply mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the mixture on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Maintenance Instructions

A decrease in water absorption is primarily due to the clogging of pores. If you experience reduced water absorption:

  1. Use the included sandpaper to gently rub in one direction, then place the product in a ventilated area to allow internal moisture to evaporate, restoring its absorbency.
  2. When surface stains or scratches appear, you can treat them with the included sandpaper.

We hope the above information can help you.
